When a movie stars Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst, Jeff Bridges, Megan Fox, Gillian Anderson and Danny Huston, opening in 1,750 theaters across the United States, you expect it to bring in a suitable amount of dollars, but alas, How To Lose Friends And Alienate People has had one of the worst openings in movie history (well, maybe it wasn't that bad, but it gives the sentence effect, no?) this past weekend, scrapping together an appauling $1.4m, charting at #13 on the box office chart.
Aren't American's obsessed with Simon and Megan right now? Not that that means they must indeed put aside their hectic lives to catch a screening of How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, but I would have thought atleast someone had nothing better to do on Sunday afternoon? I think the general consension is that the flick was poorly promoted but I put it down to MGM demanding entertainment blogs post their videos and pictures of Megan's wet tits from the movie, to generate buzz and all that shit. Obviously no one's going to pay $9 to see Megan's breasts if they're easily accessible over the Internet, are they?
Sigh. Oh well, maybe next time Simon. Megan? Who needs talent when her assets are more than enough to cement any old role. As for Kirsten, her career is pretty much dunst anyway.
The US weekend box office looked like this:
1. Beverly Hills Chihuahua - $29,300,465
2. Eagle Eye - $17,709,817
3. Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist - $11,311,751
